A couple of years ago, I moaned on a thread like this about missing Speedball 2. Someone sent me a WHOmail to tell me that you could download it from Sony for a couple of quid.
Well, I've now done that - and it's brilliant, so THANK YOU whoever you are.

Tip for the Star Wars players. Don't waste time aiming down your sights. Shoot from the hip. The game has been designed to be played like that. Sure you won't beat the shut in's. But you will improve.

CoT - I was the same at the beginning, but got a bit better by lunchtime yesterday. You just have to stick with it and upgrade your weapons and add-ons.
I'm lucky enough to be able to afford it and discard it if it's shite; I think it's good that they've put out the Beta so people can make a decision whether to go for it on release or not and then listen to the reviews of those who do.
The downside is that if you do wait, once you eventually buy it, you'll never be able to live with the online players who get it on day one.

Just had some solid time on Star Wars.
It is not for me, it really is just a CoD game full of people with so much time on their hands they are literally untouchable.
Played a full game on Hoth and by the time I lock on to someone I am dead, I spawn and walk 1 step I am sniped, I hide and I am bombed. At the end my group/team of 16 leader had 56 kills, mid range players had about 30 kills and I had ONE kill.
I am giving this a miss

EA are making a story-based Star Wars game at a different studio. Maybe the plan at one point was that they'd be the same game?

I think it's the campaign modes that really eat up the budget and development time though as well.

I think they have missed a trick with ommiting campaign. I know on line is the big thing at the moment but a good story mode is a big seller surely? I love GTA, would I buy GTA6 when it is out (probably not until around 2018) if there was no campaign/story mode? No, probably not

no campaign but you can play on your own you dont have to play online with others, i think the comp takes the other roles, and there with be other individual missions like tatooine survival i think. id prefer a campaign mode to, i'll buy it but cant see myself getting into it online.

All I have seen on the BETA is "defend this, defend that" and as you say, running around killing and sniping. It will be massive though simply because it is Star Wars. I am just not sure it has the longevity for a player like me as frustration will want me to trade it in

It seems much more casual even than COD to be honest - maybe it's just the beta, but there isn't much more to do but run around and shoot.
It's going to be a huge hit though. Might sell more than Cod this year.

I think SW is MP only isn't it? No campaign? If there was I would be in but as much of a fan of SW I am it is essentially CoD with SW characters and I reckon I would bore easily through sheer frustration.
Granted I have only played a while but getting sliced open every 5 seconds and having NO CHANCE of kills is no fun at all. I know practice makes you better but some of these on line players are insanely good

Had a good few hours on Star Wars Battlefront today. I enjoyed it, but it got a bit boring towards the end. Of course, there are only three game modes and the release will be better, so I'm definitely IN. Will do the pre-order when I can get back on this evening.
Back on topic, I got a PS4 just after having previously been on XBox 360 (and PS2 before that, come to think of it), because my son's friends were moving over. I wouldn't say I regret it, but I've had far more issues with online play than I ever had on XBox. Also, I'm a fan of the XBox controller, and the fact that they've souped it up for the 1TB version means I'll probably be treating myself to the second console this Christmas.

cant you play missions on your own until you get better at the game then go into the other online stuff? granted ive only played about 20 mins of the tatooine survival thing so far.

Agreed, it's just a fact of life of multiplayer shooters unfortunately - especially ones where the players who play more unlock perks. A lot of ppl online are complaining about the bad spawning - you often get shot in the back pretty quick.
I'm going to play the beta a bit more and then I'm done with it I think.
